  has been ages since i've looked at the wtbts website, so i thought it was about time, since i knew i could do with a good laugh!

  i stumbled on this pure gold.... "have you ever wondered...what it means to be spiritually clean?

  I quit!

  While I might think of myself as an ex-JW, I have decided that apostate does not apply. For me, that would mean fighting against beliefs and behavior patterned after Christ. That is not what I find objectionable in the WTS. It is their going beyond what Christ said.

  I've got news for you, well maybe I don't. You probably already know this. They are the apostates. They are the ones that get baptized in the name of the father, the son and an organizition. I can't think of any other mainstream religion that does something as off base as this. Who is the only so called Christian religion the has a communion service where 99.99% of its members refuse to partake? Didn't Christ say if you don't you have no life in you? They are about as far remove and apostate from the Christian Church as you can get.

  Jehovah's Witness hope, does it remove the sting of death?

  recently i was speaking to my witness sister, and the topic of someone dying in her husband's family came up.

  she mentioned that her husband (a non-witness) has a hard time with death and will not even go back to his grandparents property, 20 years after their death, as he does not do well with the memories and death itself.

  my sister made the statement, "i explained to him that i hoped one day i could help him come to terms with death, by learning what it really is and the hope in store.

  Having been a JW for many years, and attended a few funerals. I always wondered at how little was said about the person who had died.

  Exactly. The deceased is just a stepping stone used to get to the sale pitch.

  My point in all this. Is the simple faults statement of hope used by so many Witnesses to recruit, that the hope of knowing what they feel God's word says about the future, will make death seem simple and easy to handle.

  I think the Watchtower take a simplistic appoach to everything. They try to make all issues black and white. I have heard witness from the platform mock other religions for mourning the death of a loved one because "they don't have the hope we have". I have heard speakers talk about how David cried before his child died then once he was dead there was nothing else to do so he got over it. Witnesses are great at putting on a front. They can have the worst home life possible yet go out telling all their neigbors what a great family life they will have if they become witnesses. With a straight face they can make comment from the Watchtower at a meeting about how witness don't have all the moral problems seen in other religions even though they have seen it all if they have been witnesses for any length of time. So I think what they parrot and how they really fell about death and dying are two different things. Everyone reacts to the loss of a loved one in different ways and J-Dubs are no different no matter what they claim.

  How JWs handle funerals can be interesting. I once went to funeral where the person that died was an athiest but had JW and Mormon relatives. Both sides used it as an opportunity to pitch their religion. They seemed to be more concerned with how they presented their religion that with the death of the person. I know for a fact they were sad about the death but still the the most important thing was "putting on a good witness" to the non-believers.

  the topic on inheritance interested me because i have been thinking about it in the opposite way.

  as a former jw would you leave things to jws in your family?

  i don't mind doing it for the ones who have been nice to me in spite of me leaving the tower but i wouldn't want any money or property winding up in the hands of the tower.

  The topic on inheritance interested me because I have been thinking about it in the opposite way. As a former JW would you leave things to JWs in your family? I don't mind doing it for the ones who have been nice to me in spite of me leaving the tower but I wouldn't want any money or property winding up in the hands of the tower. Could you put a clause in you will or trust stating that in order to receive anything they would have to sign something stating that nothing left to them should ever be donated to the Watchtower? And how could this be inforced? Also could you put something stating that they would have to read "Crisis of Conscience or other books about the tower in order to receive anything? Isn't it amazing the stupid positions the wt puts you in? Anyone who hasn't been involved with the wt and doesn't know what they really are would think you were a horrible person for doing something like this.

  Kind of off the subject but I heard they were using a woman interrogator to read Harry Potter to some of the detainees at Guantanamo Bay as part of their interrogation. I would read them the Watchtower and maybe through in some kingdom melodies such as "from house to house from door to door" I know I would break pretty quick if that were done to me.

  I think some of it is very good. I really like Jennifer Knapp, the Supertone, Altogether Separate.

  What I don't like about Christian rock is that they seem to think every song has to be about religion. I think they should write more songs about everyday themes. I mean and 18 christian musician is going to be attracted to a young lady so why not write about. Going to the beach, a hot car, how you love your wife or kids. Things like this are as much a part of a Christians live as anyone elses. If I were a musician I would prefer to be thought of as musician who happened to be a Christian rather than a Christian musician.

  Chemo begins today

  so, i've been sitting at the computer all night long, not really panicked, but definitely disturbed at the thought of what the months to come will entail.. the port-a-cath was "installed" (surgically) on monday, and that was tough.

  somehow the lumpectomy last month and even finding out that there was lymph node involvement was okay.

  scary, but okay.

  Hi Brenda,

  You are thoughts and prayers. Everyone I know who has gone thru breast cancer in the last 5 years has beaten it.

  My wife has gone thru something similar twice. We found one of the hardest things was waiting to get the chemo started once you get going it gets to be more of a routine. The anti-nausia drugs and blood builder have gotten better over the years. Good doctors and nurse make the going a whole lot easier. It has now been over five years and my wife is doing great. I tried getting her to eat a macrobiotic diet when she was undergoing chemo as it is supposed to be helpful at beating cancer but she could eat the crap. She did much better on a diet of Kraft Dinner and Velveta cheese and other things like that that she wouldn't normally eat but were allowed. Anyway she is doing great now (except for the Watchtower thing). She exercises and even has been able to go skiing.

  Potty Mouths?

  when i got out of the dumbs, i use to cuss non-stop i think as a pathetic tactic to make worldy people think i was a little more worldy.

  i still swear from time to time, and foul language does not offend me at all, but i was talking to my sister the other day, she just turned 21, has discovered alcohol, is currently on public reproof, and i think is really close to being on her way out herself.

  she cursed like a sailor the whole time i was talking to her.

  Assembly in Salt Lake City

  my wife is going to the assembly in salt lake city over the 4th of july weekend.

  anyone here condemned to that one?

  i heard they are going to have huge fireworks display to celebrate the 4th and.........well, maybe i didn't hear that.

  That doesn't make sense to me. The JW's I'm pretty sure do not celebrate the 4th of July.

  I also heard that Cyni Lauper was going to be there performing her song "Witness" except they asked her to change the lyric from "I don't want to be a witness to "I just want to be a witness" and from "jailbird path to walk" to Pioneer path to walk".

  OK so maybe I didn't hear that either. I could be fibbing.
